The Concept
The concept is simple. Most fire victims want to get back to their lives and community as quickly as possible. By placing victims back on their property, the whole community and supporting infrastructure will revitalize sooner than later. Once any given fire damaged property is cleared of debris, and cleared for rebuilding, a Renegade home can be strategically positioned on the lot allowing for the home rebuild process, connected to existing electric, water and sewage, ready for habitation.
The Variables
Obviously, not all fire victim properties will allow for a Renegade tiny house trailer to be placed on their property for habitation during the rebuilding of their new home. Yet, if 30, 40, or even 50% of them can, this will be a game changer for the revitalization of a burned out community.
Usable utilities will also be an issue. Some areas might have full access to the three main utilities. Some may not have water, or electric. but, as long as the sewers are functional, solar power and electric storage can be added, and water cisterns can be implemented if the water supply isn't sufficient.
Cal Shelters Tiny Homes Description
Cal Shelters' basic Renegade model wasn't designed to be cute and fancy. It was originally designed to provide an affordable solution for the the growing un-housed problem. It features 288 sq ft of living space including the lofts. The layout has a full bath with shower, a semi-full kitchen, two sleeping lofts, and a living room area. This unit could be suitable for two adults and one child. By adding a second smaller trailer of 128 sq ft, connected to the larger main unit, two adults and two or three children could be relatively comfortable.
The Renegade also features energy efficiency throughout. Double paned LoE windows, solid core Thermashield and radiant barrier insulation, and reflective roofing technology. The overall insulation value is approximately R23.
Our building method is structured in a way that allows for organized mass production. With a suitably equipped space, skilled and general laborers, and proper tooling, Cal Shelters can spit these out in a fashion similar to the Model A Ford automobile.
A feasible solution using Tiny House Trailers, as a means to enable a great deal of the LA fire victims to live on their property, while they rebuild their home. Thus, revitalizing the entire local infrastructure and community!
